Cumberland Falls State Park
Cumberland Falls is the second largest waterfall east of the Rockies. The falls are 125 feet across and 68 feet high.
On moonlit nights vistors can sometimes see a "moonbow" arching from the base of the falls. The park provides lodge and cabin accommodations for guests.
Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State Park
Levi Jackson State Park, located on the original wilderness road, features a working water powered grist mill and one of the largest collections of millstones in the world.
Camping, Hiking, Hunting and Canoeing
Forset Service drive-in campgrounds are located at Holly Bay and Grove Recreational Areas. Hikers can explore
more than 94 miles of trails that wind through the national forest. Numerous game species including deer, turkey, grouse and squirrel are found in the forest. Questions regarding seasons and regulations should be directed to Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife. Hunting is prohibited around developed recreational areas. The Rockcastle and Cumberland Rivers are only a short distance from the lake and offer a scenic and sometimes challenging way to see the forest. Only paddlers with advanced skills should attempt certain sections of these streams.
